about maddlesmade
-
Because life is more fun with a little more colour, texture, and delight.
MaddlesMade is a playful, resourceful studio that creates memorable experiences through art. Whether it’s a giant inflatable sculpture, immersive event décor, or a hands-on workshop, every project is designed to spark curiosity and bring people together.
Resourcefulness is at the heart of the studio. Whenever possible, we incorporate reclaimed, repurposed, and thoughtfully sourced materials to create work that’s both joyful and environmentally conscious.
If you’re looking for something unexpected, colourful, and handmade you’re in the right place.
-
The MaddlesMade studio is tucked away in our favourite quirky corner of Vancouver… East Van! While we’re based here, we love working with clients across Canada and beyond.
-
Every project is creatively led and art directed by me, Maddles (Madeleine Chaffee).
Depending on the size and scope of the project, I also collaborate with a wonderful network of skilled makers, seamstresses, fabricators, and crafty humans to help bring larger ideas to life.
-
Absolutely.
I work with businesses, festivals, event producers, councils, galleries, arts organizations, community groups, and individuals looking to create something memorable.
Whether you’re planning a product launch, decorating a public space, or commissioning a one-of-a-kind artwork, I’d love to collaborate.

Definitely!
Many of my artworks and installations are available to hire for festivals, weddings, corporate events, community events, retail activations, and private parties.
If you’re not sure what would suit your event, I’d be happy to recommend pieces based on your space and goals.
-
Custom projects are my favourite.
Whether you have a fully formed vision or just a vague idea, I love collaborating to develop concepts that are playful, unique, and tailored specifically to your event, space, or brand.
Every custom project is designed and handmade for you, so you’ll end up with something that feels truly one of a kind.
-
Yes. We are not afraid to get in lifts and climb ladders to hang decor. We have experience setting up pieces indoors and outdoors, rain or shine (rain being very common in Vancouver).
-
Absolutely! While the MaddlesMade studio is based in East Vancouver, I’m happy to travel for installations, workshops, festivals, and events.
Travel fees may apply depending on the location, but if you’ve got an exciting idea, I’d love to hear about it.
-
We usually begin with a creative virtual chat to learn about your project, goals, timeline, and budget.
From there, I’ll prepare a custom proposal and quote outlining the concept, deliverables, timeline, and pricing. Once you’re happy to move forward, a deposit secures your booking and work begins.
Throughout the project, you’ll receive regular updates and opportunities for feedback, making the process collaborative, transparent, and fun.
-
Absolutely, this is one of my favorite things to do.
You don’t need to come to me with a finished concept. If you have a goal, a theme, a space, or simply a feeling you want people to experience, I can help develop ideas that bring it to life.
-
Every commission, installation, workshop, or hire is quoted individually based on the scope of the project.
As a general guide:
Artwork hire starts from $500
Custom installations start from $2,000
Craft workshops start from $500
Custom bags/small artworks/wearables start from $200
-
Yes! Every project is different, and I understand that budgets vary.
If you have a budget in mind, let me know from the start. I’ll always be honest about what’s achievable and can often suggest creative alternatives or scale a concept to fit your budget.
-
The earlier, the better!
For workshops and artwork hire, 3 to 4 weeks notice is usually plenty. For custom installations, larger commissions, or busy event seasons, I recommend reaching out at least 2-3 months in advance.
That said, if you’re working with a tight deadline, don’t hesitate to ask. If I can make it happen, I will.
-
Easy! Head over to the Contact Me page and tell me a little about your project.
The more details you can share about your event, timeline, budget, location, the better. I’ll get back to you to discuss the next steps.
-
Whenever possible, yes.
Resourcefulness is one of the core values of MaddlesMade. I love incorporating reclaimed, repurposed, and surplus materials into my work, giving them a second life in colourful and unexpected ways. I particularly working love working with clients to take a waste product they have and creating art from it.
When a project requires new materials, I always aim to choose durable, high-quality options that can be reused, repaired, or enjoyed for years to come.
-
Many of them are!
I design with longevity in mind whenever possible, creating work that can be packed down, repaired, adapted, or reused for future events - textile based work is great for this.
If you’re commissioning a custom installation, we can also discuss designing it specifically for multiple uses, making it a great long-term investment.
